2024 Sport Pembrokeshire Awards - Part 6

Male Sporting Achievement of the Year


 

The category of Male Sporting Achievement of the Year was sponsored by Pembrokeshire Leisure and the finalists were, Jeremy Cross, Rhys Llewellyn and Sam Coleman. Jeremy was unable to be there as he was competing in the world over 45’s championship in Japan. He was represented by Dean Richards. Sam was also  unable to be there but was represented by his sister Daisy.

 
Sam Coleman (Winner):
 
Sam Coleman has dominated the 2024 E1 Series as a key member of Team Brady, owned by sports legend Tom Brady. His achievements include victories at the Jeddah and Monaco Grand Prix, pole position at the Lake Como Grand Prix, and regaining the top spot in the world championship standing, winning four out of five races. Leading the championship by 11 points, Sam has made history as the first electric boat racing champion. Balancing his global success with commitment to Saundersfoot AFC, Sam is a dedicated, grounded athlete, placing Pembrokeshire on the world map of electric boat racing.

 
Rhys Llewellyn (Runner-Up):
 
This year, Rhys represented Wales in mountain running in Scotland and cross country in London. He won a gold medal in steeplechase for Dyfed,  a silver in cross country for West Wales, and achieved a personal best in the 800m, cutting his time by an impressive 18 seconds. Rhys’s journey highlights his versatility across disciplines like track, cross-country, and mountain running. As a committed Pembrokeshire Harrier, his performance and devotion to training make him an inspiring Welsh athlete.
 
 
Jeremy Cross (Runner-Up):

Jeremy Cross from Haverfordwest Tennis Club has made a remarkable impact in tennis this season, proudly representing Team GB while securing three major British titles and reaching a career-high world ranking of number 1 in LTA GB seniors.  Jeremy’s achievements include winning the men’s singles at the British Indoor Open Masters, winning the men’s singles title at the British Masters closed Grass Court Championships at Wimbledon, defending his singles, doubles and mixed doubles title at the Pembrokeshire open and defending his men’s doubles title at the British Masters Closed Grass Cout Championships at Wimbledon. As captain in the Age-Group Four Nations, he exemplifies sportsmanship and leadership.
